UPDATE: This Is Head, The Black Keys & Top RYM Albums of 2010!
I've been away on tour with the excellent This Is Head and will post up something on the tour and the band as soon as I have the energy! For now though, go give their incredible debut album a listen on Spotify. For fans of krautrock, early U2, New Order, Ennio Morricone and everything in between!
Whilst I've been gone, The Black Keys released their unofficial official video for the next single off their upcoming album, 'Brothers':
I've also just been looking at the latest 2010 rankings on RYM and think it's shaping up pretty nicely! Although RYM lists often features a few too many metal albums for my liking, this list is pretty damn varied and includes Flying Lotus, Erykah Badu, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti (which I've been listening to a lot this past week!), The Tallest Man On Earth, The National, Beach House and LCD Soundsystem in the top 20.
That's all for now, but look out for the This Is Head post!

FESTIVAL: Way Out West, Gothenburg, Sweden 12th-14th August 2010
I'm still in my first year living in Sweden and have always wanted to go to 'Way Out West' and this year is no exception after seeing the current confirmed artists include Beach House, GIRLS, Local Natives, Real Estate, M.I.A., Pavement, Q-Tip, The Tallest Man On Earth, the National and more! What's more, I just read that they're trying to (I think I did anyway!) get The Felice Brothers booked too! NOW THAT WOULD BE SOMETHING!

Beach House - Teen Dream (2010)
The album is due out next week on Sub Pop and will include a companion DD which features videos for each song. This is a really nice idea and something I wish more artists would do. Anton of The Brian Jonestown Massacre has made videos for most of his songs from the bands last couple of albums, but they never accompanied the CD. I really enjoyed their first and although the new one doesn't seem to have changed the formula too much, it shouldn't disappoint. I just found out that you can listen to the album for free here:

Real Estate - Real Estate
I've finally got round to getting their debut album and it's easily in my Top 5 albums this year. Although most people have labelled it a perfect summer album, it's been really snowy here of late and the album has a lethargic quality to it that goes perfect with the snow. Plus the last track on the album is called 'Snow Days'. I'm sure it'll sound great all year round! Their sound kinda reminds me of Clientele (see video below) in that it has the same hazy dreaminess to it that you can get lost in. They do have a surf-rock edge to many of their songs too and have a hint of Beach House's late night sleepiness to them. This album wouldn't be out of place alongside some of Modest Mouse's slower, dreamier songs (Drammamine, Edit The Sad Parts). The comparisons could go on and on, but they DO have their own sound and I like it. I've already made two earlier posts on these guys, so be sure to check those videos out too if you haven't already and give these tracks below a listen.

Beach House - Teen Dream
I remember buying the first Beach House from Piccadilly Records after reading one of their descriptions on the front of the CD in store:

How could I not like it?! Their second album was equally as brilliant and they're set to release their 3rd album 'Teen Dream' on 25th January.
Take a vacation at the Beach House away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Let the Baltimore duo of Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally take you to a new place, a unique place where slow hazy pop fills the room with organs, slide guitars, reverb, echoes and simple yet unforgettable melodies. Beach House contains memories from past trips, times, and places: 70s Southern California (lunch with Karen Carpenter), mid 90s England (star-gazing with Mazzy Star no doubt), a weekend at Warhol's Factory in New York (shared a cab with Nico) and a camping trip in the Appalachians back in 1940 (with a country breakfast at Patsy's).
