Sun Araw - On Patrol (2010)

"On Patrol is a double album in two parts, and the 4th full length album from Sun Araw, following 2009’s Heavy Deeds. An album for heavy-steamin' late nights in the city, inter- dimensional back alleys, ghost cabs, and midnight-sweat locker rooms, it creeps and tunes in on a much darker, sparser, and more classically minded channel than its predecessors: dark and deep steam-vent ruminations on Philip Cohran, lenticular objects, and fried Hot 92.3 R&B slow-jams. Eschewing liner notes, Sun Araw has subtitled each track to let the listener know exactly where they are in hopes of recruiting more explorers as would-be enforcers. WATCH YOURSELF, GET ON PATROL."

Sun Araw

Sun Araw is former Magic Lantern's guitarist Cameron Stallones' solo project. If you liked the Woodsman post the other day or are into Brightblack Morning Light, Spacemen 3 or Spiritualized then this is right up your street. I've only heard a few assorted tracks on You Tube and was disappointed not to see any of his work on Spotify, but from what I've heard and read it sounds pretty damn cool. The latest album is called 'Heavy Deeds.' Uncut's Wild Mercury Sound described the sound as "sticky, horizontal, hot night music." That sums it up pretty perfectly.
