FREE STREAM! Gorillaz - Plastic Beach (2010)

NPR have yet another treat for you all. Take a listen to the new Gorillaz album a week before its official release here. I have no idea what to expect and am currently on the second track which is pretty chilled and faded in nicely from the cool orchestral intro. Snoop isn't doing too much, but it's a nice start to the album and in places almost sounds like it might have sampled Kool & the Gang's 'Summer Madness', with hints of Flying Lotus/Dam Funk in there too. The first time I heard this song was when I watched 'Rocky I' for the first time. He's in his bedroom and it comes on the radio in the background and sets the scene perfectly. I had no idea what it was and didn't find out until I played Grand Theft Auto: Vice City and it came on one of the radio stations. As soon as I found out it was them, I ordered the album, 'Light of Worlds' and fell in love with the song. The album isn't half bad either, but none of the other songs quite create the same atmosphere found on 'Summer Madness'. It's been sampled numerous times and is a perfect late night song.
