UPDATE: This Is Head, The Black Keys & Top RYM Albums of 2010!

I've been away on tour with the excellent This Is Head and will post up something on the tour and the band as soon as I have the energy! For now though, go give their incredible debut album a listen on Spotify. For fans of krautrock, early U2, New Order, Ennio Morricone and everything in between!

Whilst I've been gone, The Black Keys released their unofficial official video for the next single off their upcoming album, 'Brothers':

I've also just been looking at the latest 2010 rankings on RYM and think it's shaping up pretty nicely! Although RYM lists often features a few too many metal albums for my liking, this list is pretty damn varied and includes Flying Lotus, Erykah Badu, Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti (which I've been listening to a lot this past week!), The Tallest Man On Earth, The National, Beach House and LCD Soundsystem in the top 20.

That's all for now, but look out for the This Is Head post!

New: Erykah Badu - New Amerykah Part II (Return of the Ankh) (2010)

Erykah Badu's new album is now up on Spotify, for those of you with accounts! I'm a third of the way through on my first listen and things are sounding very Badu. It has the same chilled out, late night vibe of her earlier albums and early reviews have been very good!

New Erykah Badu track! Window Seat!

After sharing a non-album, web-only track with us last week ('Jump In the Air (Stay There)'), Erykah Badu has just posted up 'Window Seat' on her Twitter, which will be the 2nd track on her upcoming album, 'New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh'. The file can be downloaded here and is produced by Badu and Grammy award winning James Poyser, who has written and produced for artists including Al Green, D'Angelo and Common. Poyser also received a Grammy for his work on Common and Badu's 'Love of My Life'.The track also features The Roots' ?uestlove on drums. Poyser has also worked on Badu's 'Mama's Gun' and 'Worldwide Underground' and this track definitely harks back to Badu's earlier albums and her late night neo-soul sound.
